What is a fixed IP and why do I need one?

When you connect to the internet from any ISP (Vodafone, Spark etc) your router gets a public IP address (IP= Internet Protocol) from them for the service. Every time your router restarts…it gets a dynamic (different) address.

So as you can imagine this makes configuring an internet service to point to your particular router unstable as the address changes regularly.

ISP’s can supply a fixed IP address for your internet connection, typically for free or a small charge ($10-$15\Month) which will then allow us to point services such as an Office 365 send connector to this fixed address for Scan to Email.
